May 12th: Jim Marxen
Coming this month, FE Gallery will feature the work of Jim Marxen and Stephen Lyman. Opening night with be May 12th from 6-9 p.m. during Sacramento’s Second Saturday Art Walk.

Jim Marxen is a self-taught artist and a self-proclaimed optimist who has a penchant for vibrant color, classic Sacramento scenery and quaint California towns. He has shown at the Crocker-Kingsley exhibit at the Crocker Art Museum, the California State Fair, and has produced an award-winning body of work. Marxen’s oil paintings boast extreme color and movement and incorporate a sparkling element of light and dark. His subjects range from the Delta riverfront and migrant workers to people lounging and dining on a popular midtown corner.

Stephen Lyman is both an FE Gallery owner as well as an accomplished metalsmith and iron designer. He grew up immersed in the art at his father’s own metal shop and has consequently been working with metal his entire life. On this evening, Lyman will be giving a couple of live metal demonstrations for those curious folk. In addition, his metalwork will be on display throughout the gallery. As his art is influenced by both form and function, it is elegant, decorative, and practical. His current collection is one of screens, wall hangings, furniture and metal sculptures which all incorporate bold mixtures of metals and patinas.

Please bring your friends and family to FE Gallery for some Second Saturday fun! We are located at 1100 65th St., Sacramento, Ca 95819. For further information please call 916-456-4455.

Jim Marxen’s exhibit will be showing at FE Gallery until June 6.
