Artist - Metalsmith - Teacher - Demonstrator

Jay Burnham-Kidwell, world famous for his metal art creations comes to FeGallery January, 2011.

Jay received a post-graduate diploma, with Distinction, in FineMetalwork Conservation and Restoration, West Dean College, Chichester, England; the University of Sussex, Brighton, Eng-land, 1999 - 2000. He also attended the International TeachingCenter for Metal Design, Vulkanschmiede, Aachen, Germany, andthe ABANA European Opportunity in 1988. He received a Mas-ter of Fine Arts degree in metalworking from the University ofGeorgia and a Bachelor of Arts degree in studio art in metal-working at the University of Delaware. Since 1994 he has owned and run Jay Burnham-Kidwell MetalDesign and Restoration in Golden Valley, Arizona. Prior to thathe taught jewelry and metalsmithing at Mohave Community Col-lege in Kingman, in Lake Havasu City, and in Bullhead City, Ari-zona.

Jay has participated in many well-known exhibitions on alocal, state, national and international level, and has also con-ducted many workshops and demonstrations at various black-smithing and art schools. He has published articles in newslet-ters and magazines and has been published in two books: Bestof the Hammer IVand Reflexed and Reflections: Art of VietnamVeterans. He has also been interviewed by Anvil Magazine.Jay received the Wally Award for Whimsy in Blacksmithingin 2000, the Trouser Button Awards: Copper, Silver, Gold fromITCFMD, Aachen, Germany, and the Golden Anvil Award fromthe California Blacksmiths Association.
