I am a fabricator. With my hands I make art, equipment and furniture. I limit myself to glass, clay and metal, for in each of these materials lies a lifetime of work, of which I have just this one.
This exhibit showcases my work from 2003 – 2008 and one current piece showing my new direction. Everything I create is something I want to see in the physical world. Seeing it only in my mind taunts the visual and tactile senses. This fuels my need to make art. Ideas either blossom into reality or rot, as concepts that are never fully seen.
My portrait work, in both glass and clay, brings me close to my subjects. Whether the subject is myself or any other person, I become familiar with every detail of the image, researching every nuance of the flesh. As an artist, I look at everyone.
Commissioned work
When I make a glass or a clay portrait I start with a photograph. For commissions I can either set up an appointment for a photo shoot with the subject or work from an existing photograph or negative. High quality digital photos are preferred and it helps to have as many different images as is possible. Prices begin at three hundred dollars and increase according to size and detail.
