One of the best parts of a show is meeting people at a gallery. I get direct feedback, and have the opportunity to discuss why I painted a certain scene, or why I used a particular palette of colors. People see things in my work that never occurred to me. It's great that everyone can interpret paintings and come away with a particular feeling that might not have been the original intent. That's what makes paintings so personal.

An appreciation for art shows a certain cultural maturity. Sacramento's art scene has grown considerably in the past couple of years since I've been showing my work. Second Saturday is a special day for many people who love to get out and enjoy art. It's fun and an easy way to enjoy some great work. Plus it challenges those of us who paint.
