Like everyone else I was shocked bv the photos coming out of Haiti, and wondered why such bad things happened in a country that was already mired in poverty and political upheaval. It seemed cruel. On the other hand, we all know that the forces of nature are random and impossible to predict.
I did this painting because of that helpless feeling you get when these things happen. I'm not a doctor, I'm not a carpenter, I don't know how to build roads or design safe buildings. Although I could donate to relief funds, which my wife and I did, I couldn't physically do much to help the people of Haiti. So I painted this, and hope that somehow it can help.
At this point, I'm not selling "Sometimes the Earth is Cruel". It's not even finished. But I will arrange for a print of it to be made if you'd like a copy. All profits from this will be donated to the International Red Cross for the relief of Haiti. 8x10 prints available @ Fe Gallery for a $25.00 donation.
